Exercise Tips

  • Just as stretching before an exercise session is important to help you avoid post-exercise soreness or injury, so is a cool down period at the end of your exercise activity. Cool down should include at least several minutes of stretching or walking.
  • For maximum health benefits, an exercise program should consist of cardiovascular activity, strength training, and flexibility and stretching exercises.
  • If you have an existing medical condition or are just starting an exercise program, consult your doctor before beginning the program to make sure it is designed with your health and wellness in mind.
  • Wear proper attire when exercising, including shoes with proper support for the activity.

Exercise is recognized as an essential component in the maintenance of health. The Harper Student Wellness Center wants to help members develop a safe and effective exercise program to improve overall health.
