Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery Center of Excellence at MUSC

The Bariatric Surgery Program at MUSC in Charleston, S.C. is a leader in gastric bypass surgery and other weight loss surgery and obesity treatment options for obese patients in South Carolina.  Since 1993, the program has performed more than 2500 weight loss surgeries.

In February 2006, the MUSC Medical Center was named an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.  The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes bariatric surgery programs with a demonstrated record of accomplishment of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
