Weight Management Center : Current Weight Loss Trials

Research Study for OVERWEIGHT OVEREATERS

The MUSC Weight Management Center is conducting a 12-week research study to assess the usefulness of a device worn on the wrist, the Bite Counter, in measuring food and drink intake and in helping people to eat less. No medication is given to participants in this study.

To qualify, you must be overweight, consider yourself to overeat, and be willing to keep thorough records of your food and beverage intake throughout the study.  You must also be willing to wear the Bite Counter device for the entire duration of the study.  You must also be between the ages of 18 and 70 years, not have significant illness or disease (such as heart disease and diabetes), not be taking any medications for weight loss, and meet other criteria.  Qualified participants will receive limited weight dietary counseling and weight monitoring.

There is no charge for participation.
This study requires a commitment of a little more than 12 weeks.

To have more detailed information sent to you, please fax a request to (843) 792-5432, leave a voice message at (843) 792-5434 or send e-mail with “BITE STUDY” in the subject line to wmc@musc.edu

Even if you don't believe you qualify for the study noted above, we routinely begin new research studies, so please join our mailing list so that we may keep you informed about upcoming research trials.
