We accept and place Volunteers for the Adult Program quarterly: 

We are not accepting applications at this time.

We are always in need of the following volunteers:

-Caring Clowns: Do you like to make people laugh like Dr. Geezer?  

MUSC is proud to be part of the Bumper T Caring Clowns Program! For more information on this wonderful program visit their website

To be part of the Carings Clown program at MUSC contact Kelly Hedges at 843-876-4246.

-Volunteer Greeters

We need volunteers to greet and welcome patients to MUSC.  We have this availability at our multiple information desks within our downtown campus and our East Cooper facility in Mt. Pleasant. 

-Volunteer Sitters

Volunteers are needed to help with patient observation for our Neurology Department.

Applications will be accepted the following dates:

A: December 23, 2013-January 17, 2014

B: February 28, 2014-March 21, 2014

C: June 9, 2014-June 27,2014

D: August 22, 2014-September 19, 2014

E: December 22-January 17, 2015

Orientations Dates for 2014:

A: February 4, 2014  1:00 pm - 4:00 p.m.  & February 5, 2014 10:00am-1:00pm

B: April 8, 2014 2:00 - 5:00 pm & April 9, 2014 10:00am-1:00pm

C: July 15, 2014 1:00 - 4:00 pm & July 16, 2014 10:00am-1:00pm

D:October 7, 2014 1:00-4:00 pm & October 8 10:00am - 1:00 p.m.

E: February 3, 2015  1:00-4:00 pm & February 4, 2015 10:00am- 1:00pm

Volunteer Requirements

Our Application Process

Applications will be open and accepted quarterly.  We spend a lot of time developing the new volunteer and therefore, we only bring on new volunteers during certain times of the year.  See application acceptance dates and orientation dates above.  Upon receipt of your application, you should be contacted with in 5 to 7 days.   Acceptance into the program is contingent upon the completion of our on-boarding requirements. 

Please note that our program does not provide the opportunity to shadow physicians, nurses, or other health care providers, nor do we allow volunteers to perform any sort of medical procedures.  For Shadow opportunities click here!

We provide volunteers training and ongoing support. New volunteers are required to complete general orientation. In addition to your overall orientation you will receive an orientation and training in your particular area of service. 

Our Volunteers

Commit to a minimum of one 3-4 hour shift per week on the same day at the same time

Fulfill a minimum of 100 volunteer hours per year

Recovery and Trauma must be at least age 21, and have HEP-B documentation.

Prospective volunteers must complete a health screening, background check, and formal orientation to MUSC's policies and procedures, as well as orientation to the assigned unit.
