Telescopic Lens Offers Patients With Macular Degeneration an Improved Quality of Life
The implantable miniature telescope, now available at the Storm Eye Institute of the Medical University of South Carolina, offers patients with end-stage advanced macular degeneration a means to restore a degree of vision and to reestablish self-reliance. Charlene M. Grice, M.D., of Storm Eye Institute discusses the mechanism of action of the telescopic lens, the criteria for patient selection, and the gains in quality of life that patients can expect after the procedure.
