MUSC’s Heart Transplant team in Charleston, SC provides the only adult and pediatric cardiac transplantation program in South Carolina. Since it began in 1987, MUSC has performed more than 400 heart transplants in adults and children.  MUSC has a dedicated children's hospital providing specialized care for pediatric transplant recipients.
Our heart transplant success outcomes are comparable to the national average, with some of the lowest mortality rates for patients on our heart transplant wait list. What's more, MUSC's average waiting time to receive a heart transplant is among the shortest in the nation.
