Less commonly known is that exercise also improves your mood and energy level. While everyone would like to feel fit, happy, and energized, most people still do not exercise.
“Every Step Counts” is a dynamic and low cost exercise program that enhances the wellbeing of people at all points on the fitness spectrum. This program is for everyone: from the recently-reforming couch potato, to the seasoned marathon-runner. How does it work? All you need to participate in the program is a pedometer, a small device that can be worn like a pager. As you move, the pedometer’s motion sensor will detect and record the number of steps you take. It counts all types of steps, whether you are walking in the hospital or around campus, taking the stairs, jogging, or however else you choose to move your feet at work or at home! As a participant in this program you can log in your steps daily as an individual and/or as a member of a Health 1st Wellness Team. Your steps will be kept in a log and your progress will be tracked automatically. There is no cost to register. Register now by clicking here! Contact health1st@musc.edu if you have questions.
