Amy Maurer studied physical education with a focus in exercise science at the College of Charleston. She graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000 with a master's degree in rehabilitation – physical therapy. She serves as adjunct faculty at the MUSC College of Health Professions. Maurer was granted specialist certification in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy in 2006 by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. As an outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapist, her scope of practice is varied, although her primary interests include shoulder and hip rehabilitation, as well injury prevention programs for athletes.
