Gowen is originally from Memphis, Tenn. She received a bachelor's degree in education with a major in dietetics from The University of Memphis in 2001. She then completed an internship in 2003 at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. She has been at MUSC since 2006 as Outpatient Dietitian in Rutledge Tower. Her office is on the sixth floor, where she sees patients Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Fridays from 1 until 4 p.m. Gowen works in the Adult Weight Management Center on Friday mornings.
Gowen has received specialized training through the American Dietetics Association in Adult Weight Management and Pediatric Weight Management. She educates patients of all ages who are affected by a variety of conditions.
