Enhanced Cancer Care National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers offer leading research and clinical trials in the war on cancer. As South Carolina’s only NCI-designated cancer center, Hollings is now recognized as one of the nation’s leading cancer research centers. NCI-designated cancer centers are major sources in developing new cancer treatments and more effective approaches to cancer prevention and diagnosis. Along with millions of dollars in initial funding to sustain and grow research at Hollings comes the potential to increase funding through NCI grants and other sources to advance clinical trials, discover new therapies and continue to recruit the best researchers and physicians to fight cancer in South Carolina and beyond. Patient care enhancements can build on MUSC’s statewide clinical trial network to close the cancer survival gap between racial and ethnic groups and to improve outcomes for all cancer patients across the region. |
