Nursing is central to patient care in hospitals. Nursing is a vital contributor to improved patient safety and healthcare outcomes. Measures in this section reflect the amount of nursing care provided to patients at the Medical University of South Carolina and other nursing sensitive measures.

Patients with documented pressure ulcers (bedsore) on day of a prevalence study and pressure ulcer documented as hospital acquired. Pressure ulcers can be detrimental to patients who already are ill and can delay their recovery.
