The Child & Adolescent Outpatient Clinic serves children and adolescents up to age 18 years old with emotional and behavioral disorders including ADHD, anxiety, mood, and adjustment disorders. STAR (Stabilization - Treatment - Assessment - Reintegration) offers Children's Day Treatment and Partial Hospitalization for children and adolescents (5-17) with serious behavioral and/or emotional difficulties in a structured and therapeutic environment. Adolescent & Family Services (AFS) Program
MUSC's Adolescent & Family Services (AFS) specializes in the delivery of family-based treatment for adolescents (ages 12-17 years) struggling with substance use or other behavioral problems. Services are delivered in an outpatient setting and are evidence-based. The AFS program is a part of the Mental Health Disparities & Diversity Program at the MUSC Institute of Psychiatry. ASSET (Adolescent Substance Use Skills Education Training). Alcohol and drug use among teenagers is on the rise. Early substance use initiation has been linked to academic and legal problems, health-related problems, poor psychological adjustment, and many other concerns. Using evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy designed specifically for adolescents and their families, the ASSET Program will help you get your family’s life back on track. Child & Adolescent Inpatient Program
The inpatient program at the Institute of Psychiatry provides brief crisis stabilization of children (5-17) with severe emotional disorders. Youth in crisis situations who are a risk to themselves or others learn new skills to better cope at home after discharge. The treatment team works closely with the family and outpatient providers and community agencies in order to ensure a smooth transition back to the community. More about the Youth Inpatient Program
