A child’s emotional problems can surface in a number of areas such as school performance, home behavior and peer relations. What may begin as a “stage” can turn into disruptive, counterproductive or even dangerous behavior. It’s common that children don’t have the means to communicate their feelings well enough to explain what they are experiencing or why. Upheaval in the family, poor self-image, peer pressure or biological disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are just a few of the problems experienced by children and adolescents. From occasional checkups to in-depth treatment, Youth Services offers programs tailored to the needs of children and their families. Highly trained child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and experienced nursing staff provide each child with a careful evaluation and diagnosis. This team approach extends into every part of the child’s treatment and support. All youth services are provided with the least possible disruption to the lives of patients and their families. Many programs offer patients and family members the opportunity to receive outpatient treatment and return home where they can apply new skills to real-life situations.
