| Professional ethics is concerned with whether the practitioner is acting according to the standards of practice in the field. This workshop examines boundary crossings such as touch, self-disclosure, gifts, borrowing money, bartering and dual relationships. The presenter will distinguish between boundary crossings and boundary violations, identifying warning signs in crossing therapeutic boundaries. | |

| At the completion of this session the participant should be able to: | |
| - Apply ethical analysis through self-monitoring and self-reflection
- Concentrate on boundary maintenance and monitor boundary crossing using sound ethical judgment
- Execute strategies to help resolve the ambiguity that is always present when handling complex ethical issues
- Act proactively and manage boundary crossings to avoid boundary violations

| Speaker Biography | |
| Sallie Campbell has served on AAMFT Ethics Committee for 3 years, of which she was chaired last year. In addition, she has been the Ethics Consultant and professional member of the Internal Review Committee (investigates all ethics complaints) for the S.C. Board of Social Work Examiners since 2002. Ms. Campbell has researched the area of ethics since 1989 and have been past president of SCNASW and SCAMFT and currently serves on the AAMFT Board of Directors. | |
