| Methods to implement research-based interventions to reduce or eliminate symptoms of severe anxiety disorders, namely avoidance, hyperarousal, and intrusive ideation will be discussed with a particular focus on using exposure-based treatments; from provision of rationale, to creation of exposure hierarchies, to in session imaginal exposure practices. | |

| Speaker Biography | |
| Dr. Acierno is the Director of the PTSD Clinical Team at the VA Medical Center in Charleston, and a senior faculty member and Professor of Psychiatry at the MUSC National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center. He is on the Department of Defense / Veteran's Administration PTSD Treatment Guidelines Executive Research Group, and is PI on several grants in which exposure therapies are being evaluated. | |
