Institute of Psychiatry : Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Medical University of South Carolina Employee Assistance Program (MUSC EAP) is a worksite based program designed to assist organizations in addressing productivity issues, as well as assisting employees in identifying and resolving personal and occupational concerns that may affect job performance.  Our philosophy is to make counseling services readily available so employees experiencing challenging life events or wrestling with day to day issues get help before it escalates and begins to harm job performance.  Mental health, substance abuse and personal issues greatly impact employee productivity resulting in increased errors, accidents, absenteeism, poor customer service and difficulty getting along with co-workers. Employee Assistance Programs have been shown to improve health, performance, morale and overall quality of life of employees.

Since December 1998, the mission of MUSC EAP has been to provide quality employee assistance services to Charleston area businesses and industries. MUSC EAP currently provides services to over 11,000 employees and their families.  Contracted companies include The Medical University of South Carolina, Medical University Hospital Authority, University Medical Associates, Summerville CPW, The Town of Summerville and The Charleston School of Law (Student and Employee Counseling).

For more information, contact Jeni Bowers-Palmer at (843) 792-2848 or email her.
