The new Ashley-Rutledge MUSC parking garage is located on the former Charleston High School site. The garage is now open. The 8-floor, 640-space facility serves patients and visitors to Rutledge Tower, Children's Hospital, Storm Eye Institute and the Medical University Hospital. In addition to the parking facility, a new university bookstore will occupy the retail space on the ground floor of the new garage. The facility is well equipped to meet handicap parking needs as well. Fifty-six of the 640 spaces are designated for handicap parking, and there are more than 30 spaces immediately adjacent to the garage for handicap parking and vehicles which exceed the 6’8" clearance in the garage. The garage is served by two elevators. The patient care services are accessible through the climate-controlled crosswalk on the second floor which links the garage and Storm Eye Institute and Children's Hospital. There is also a raised mid-block crosswalk over Ashley Avenue. Rutledge Tower is accessible from the garage by way of a covered walkway leading to the Rutledge Tower front door. |
