David B. Adams, M.D.
Dr. Adams research and work is focused on gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery with a special interest in the surgical management of chronic pancreatitis. He has published more than 100 works and presented over 100 talks related to his clinical interests. His teaching and clinical work have been recognized with multiple awards.
Dr. Adams is currently co-medical director of MUSC's Digestive Disease Center Service Line, head of the Division of Gastrointestinal and Laparoscopic Surgery and an MUSC professor. He joined the MUSC faculty in 1986. Prior to that, he served as chief of surgery at the U.S. Naval hospitals in Charleston and Guantanamo Bay.
He completed his internship and residency in surgery at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Va., and received his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia.
