Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners

Stefanie Owczarski, PA
As an academic physician assistant working with MUSC's pancreas program, Stefanie is intimately involved in patient care, research and education related to diseases of the pancreas. Specifically, she plays an integral role in managing the needs of patients undergoing total pancreatectomy with islet cell autotransplantation for management of chronic pancreatitis. She has been a part of the Islet Cell Transplant Program since its inception.

Laurrie Rumpp, MSN, FNP
Laurrie is a board certified nurse practitioner and an integral member of the gastrointestinal multidisciplinary team at the Hollings Cancer Center. Specifically, she works in Surgical Oncology and evaluates, educates and manages patients with pancreatic cancers (pancreatic adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors). She helps them as they prepare and recover from pancreatic surgery, which may include a Whipple procedure, distal pancreatectomy or total pancreatectomy. In addition, she is an active participant in the weekly GI Multidisciplinary Tumor Board, and she runs a long-term surveillance clinic for pancreatic cancer patients. She has been a part of the Surgical Oncology team since 2003 and is instrumental in providing collaborative care for the pancreatic cancer patient population.
