MUSC has established a center of excellence for the pancreas with a team that includes specialized surgeons, interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, gastroenterologists and support staff - all with expertise in treating pancreatic disease and disorders.

In the case of pancreatitis and also pancreatic cancer, a nurse navigator steers the patient through the diagnosis and treatment procedures, continuing to offer guidance from MUSC once the patient has returned home. Likewise, the pancreas team at MUSC includes registered dieticians to provide individualized nutrition support on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
