Dr. Reed received his B.S. in Pre-Med Studies from Davidson College and his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. During his Chief Resident year, he studied children’s orthopaedic surgery at the Atlanta Scottish Rite Hospital and at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He also completed a fellowship in Scoliosis and Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Reed is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who has previously served as the president of multiple organizations, including the South Carolina Orthopaedic Association, the Charleston Orthopaedic Society, the Michael Hoke Society, and the Charleston County Medical Society. He was on the Board of Councilors' Executive Committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is a past Chairman for the Committee on the Medical Aspects of Sports in the South Carolina Medical Association, and served as the orthopaedic representative to the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness. Dr. Reed joined the faculty of the Medical University of Charleston in 2007 and holds joint appointments as Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Pediatrics.
