Dr. Mooney received his B.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and his M.D. from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery internship and his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Bowman Gray - Wake Forest University School of Medicine/North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Boston. Prior to his appointment as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Mooney had faculty appointments at Bowman Gray - Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Mooney has numerous publications in his specialty of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, including research on pediatric spinal deformity; pediatric fractures; and hip, knee, foot, and hand abnormalities. Dr. Mooney is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who joined the faculty of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2006. More on Dr. Mooney
