Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at MUSC
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, traumatic injuries, and developmental or genetic deformities of the face, mouth, dentition, jaws and neck. Functional, pathologic and cosmetic problems are managed by these physicians.
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the Medical University of South Carolina is part of MUSChealth and the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine. The diagnosis and consultative practice is located in the Clinical Sciences Building (CSB) with outpatient surgery performed in the Outpatient Procedure Center in Rutledge Tower. Inpatient surgery is performed at the MUSC Main Hospital. The surgeons work closely with one another and with other specialists at MUSC to provide comprehensive care to patients.
The MUSC Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic provides a full range of surgical services including tooth extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, management of facial trauma, jaw and oral reconstruction, oral implants, microsurgical trigeminal nerve repair, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease procedures, and corrective (orthognathic) jaw surgery. The MUSC Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department is home to some of the country’s most highly qualified faculty and exceptional resident surgeons – the same individuals who will care for your and your family’s oral surgical needs.
