National Nutrition Month 2014

March is National Nutrition Month, a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). The goal of National Nutrition Month is to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme of this years campaign is "Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right."

To broaden the scope of "Enjoying the Taste of Eating Right," a different international cuisine was selected as the focus each week.  The culture and healthy components of each were highlighted.

Learn more about the culture, herbs and seasonings, tips for dining out, and recipes for each featured week:

Week 1: Hispanic Cuisine

Week 2: Indian Cuisine

Week 3: Mediterranean Cuisine

Week 4: Asian Cuisine

An International Children's Taste Panel was conducted at the MUSC Urban Farm on March 26th.  Third grade students from Meeting Street Elementary school enjoyed learning about various cultures, tasting new foods, and trying yoga as a new form of exercise.
