Nutrition support is a sophisticated and specialized practice that requires the expertise and knowledge of multiple health-care professionals including physicians, dietitians, and nurses. The National Board of Nutrition Support Certification developed a new credential, the Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) that is valid for all professional disciplines involved in nutrition support. The Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential identifies clinicians as qualified nutrition support provider. In May, Chris Bannister, Carrie Finch, Emily Whitehead and Cecilia Freeman successfully passed the CNSC exam. There are only 2,200 nutrition support professionals in the nation who are certified. Forty percent (40%) of MUSC/ Sodexo inpatient dietitians are credentialed in nutrition support and actively participate on the MUSC Nutrition Support Team. |
