There are several different ways to treat Type 2 Diabetes. Some people use diet control, some are on oral agents and others use insulin. These general diet tips are okay for anyone with Type 2 Diabetes. Eat 3 meals each day, about the same time each day if possible. Include a variety of food at each meal, all food groups are important. Choose non calorie or sugar free drinks like water, unsweet tea, and diet drinks. Eat less fried, greasy food. Sweets are okay on occasion, but limit your portion sizes and try fruit for a sweet treat. Exercise daily (with your doctor’s permission). A bedtime snack may be necessary if you are on medication to help control your diabetes.
