Your goal is to have a healthy baby. Usually, the goal is to gain 25 to 35 pounds at a steady rate to have a strong healthy baby. To give your baby the best start, you should practice these healthy habits daily. Eat regular meals and snacks every day. Do not diet or skip meals while pregnant. Choose a variety of foods from each food group and avoid eating too much junk food. Stop smoking. Do not drink alcohol or take any drugs (other than what your doctor may prescribe). Take the vitamin pills your doctor prescribes. Check with your doctor or dietitian for more information.
