If you are on dialysis or in kidney failure, your doctor or dietitian may recommend that you avoid large amounts of phosphorus. The following foods contain phosphorus and should not be eaten: Baked beans, black beans, black-eyed peas, butter beans, chick peas, crowder peas, field peas, Great Northern beans, kidney beans, lentils, lima beans, navy beans, pinto beans and split peas. Nuts and seeds, peanut butter, bran, whole grain breads Chocolate, dark colored colas (such as Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and RC). **You can have Sprite, 7Up, Gingerale, Root Beer or Mt. Dew.
Dairy products (milk, ice cream, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding) should also be limited. Ask your dietitian how many servings you should have each day.
