The symptoms of some stomach and intestinal problems (such as ulcers and heartburn), may be eased by eating a bland diet. Ask your doctor or dietitian if this diet is right for you. Make a list of foods that cause you discomfort. Take care to avoid them. Eat small meals and snacks throughout the day. Avoid eating large amounts of food at one time. The following foods are known to cause stomach irritation in some people: Alcohol Black pepper Caffeine Cocoa Coffee Chili powder Fried and high fat foods Tea
