Nina Crowley, MS, RD, LD, is a Sodexo dietitian who works as a Bariatric Surgery Dietitian for MUSC's Bariatric Surgery Program. She takes a very active role in helping patients change their lifestyle and health behaviors by counseling every patient during both pre- and post-operative surgical visits, reviewing nutrition labwork, teaching group education classes, and managing the support group.
Nina has been involved in designing several innovative programs for her patients. She is currently managing the ‘Gastric Bypass Surgery Health Behaviors Study’, a 3 year longitudinal study looking at changes in various health and psychosocial behaviors from before surgery to 36 months post surgery. She has presented research findings at the past few annual meetings for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and The Obesity Society. She published an article, as first author, in the Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases (SOARD) bariatric surgery journal. She recently presented a research poster summarizing 12-month outcome data from the Health Behaviors Study at the Obesity Society Annual meeting in Orlando, FL.
