National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition Month, a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). The goal of National Nutrition Month is to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme of this years campaign is "Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right."  To broaden the scope of "Enjoying the Taste of Eating Right," a different international cuisine was selected as the focus each week.  The culture and healthy components of each were highlighted.(4/2/14)Learn More

Mindful by Sodexo Demonstrates First Year Results
Sodexo introduced Mindful in February 2013 as a unique approach to wellness that focuses on transparency of ingredients, appealing flavor profiles, and satisfying portions.  It's an approach that believes you don't have to sacrifice great tasting for to be healthy.  IN the first 12 months of the program, Sodexo has seen it have tremendous impact in serving its more than 15 million consumers daily (4/2/14).
Outstanding Preceptor Award
Kristi Fogg,  MUSC Pediatric Clinical Nutrition Manager, received the Outstanding Preceptor Award recognized by The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors (NDEP) group. 
Water for Water
On World Water Day (March 22) Team Sodexo, along with more than 3,000 others, participated in the 8th annual Walk for Water, sponsored by Water Missions International. In addition to being a fund raiser for Water Missions, which provides sustainable safe water and sanitation solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas, the walk served as an awareness campaign about the global water crisis (3/27).Learn More
International Taste Panel

A 3rd grade class, from Meeting Street Academy, participated in an International Taste Panel at the MUSC Urban Farm.  The students learned about the cultures of other countries and tasted foods indigenous to each area (3/27/14). Learn More

Ashley River Tower (ART) Cafeteria Grand Re-Opening

Renovations to the ART cafeteria have resulted in more menu offerings, better customer flow, and Subway.  Sodexo celebrated the re-opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony, live entertainment, and several grand prizes (3/27/14). Learn More

National Nutrition Month Proclamation & Other Events

National Nutrition Month is always an exciting time for MUSC and Sodexo, and this year was no exception as employees and interns alike worked diligently to promote this years’ theme, Eat Right with Color.  One particular highlight of the month was the reading of Mayor Riley’s official proclamation declaring March as National Nutrition Month and March 9th as Registered Dietitian Day in the city of Charleston.

Certified Nutrition Support Clinician Credentials

The National Board of Nutrition Support Certification developed a new credential, the Certified Nutrition support Clinical (CNSC) that is valid for all professional disciplines involved in nutrition support.  The CNSD credential identifies clinicians as qualified nutrition support providers.  Four (4) MUSC/ Sodexo Registered Dietitians successfully completed this new credential in May.
