Envision SC recently interviewed Dr. Ray Greenberg, President of the Medical University of South Carolina, about how MUSC is improving health care globally as well as for the residents of South Carolina.  The REACH MUSC tele-stroke network was shared as an example of how MUSC is saving lives of residents who suffer a stroke across South Carolina.

The Medical University Of South Carolina Comprehensive Epilepsy Center has again been recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Center (NAEC) as a Level 4 epilepsy center. Level 4 epilepsy centers have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy.   The NAEC designates Level 3 or Level 4 status to epilepsy centers that meet the criteria stated in the NAEC Guidelines for Essential Services, Personnel, and Facilities in Specialized Epilepsy Centers in the United States.

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at MUSC offers advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary planning and a full spectrum of medical and surgical therapies. MUSC is pleased to be hosting a community stroke awareness event on May 4, 2013. Physicians from the MUSC Comprehensive Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center will be providing information to stroke survivors, family members and caregivers on topics such as:

  • Recovering from Stroke
  • Dealing with the emotional and social aspects of stroke
  • Lifestyle changes and medication for stroke preventionstroke awareness event 2013
