Conditions Treated by Gamma Knife
The MUSC Gamma Knife Center team works with each patient and referring physician to determine whether gamma knife radiosurgery is the best treatment option.
Gamma knife surgery is an effective, non-invasive treatment for many conditions related to abnormalities in the head and neck.
Some conditions treated by Gamma Knife surgery include:
- Benign and malignant brain tumors
- Benign and malignant tumors in the cranial nerves, head and neck
- Vascular disorders, such as arteriovenous malformations (AVM) and brain aneurysms
- Functional disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy
