Nephrology offers diagnostic studies relating to the entire spectrum of medical renal disease with emphasis on hypertension and fluid electrolyte problems.  The Dialysis Unit trains patients for home dialysis.  Access to renal transplant is provided through cooperation with Surgery Services.

The Division of Nephrology is affiliated with six ambulatory outpatient hemodialysis units in the immediate Charleston area which are operated by Dialysis Clinics, Inc. Each of these units is supervised by a Medical Director who is a full time faculty member in the MUSC Division of Nephrology.  These units are located in:

• Charleston
• West Ashley
• North Charleston
• Mount Pleasant
• James Island
