Physician Profile: Dr. Matthew Toole

Transcript:

My name is Matt Toole.  I’m a cardiothoracic surgeon.  I went to University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee for my undergraduate, and then to Emory University for medical school.  I stayed there for five more years for general surgery training, and then came to MUSC for cardiothoracic training; and have been on the faculty since July of 2006.

I’m interested in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery; coronaries, and valves, in addition to some other more unique subspecialties.  I’m interested in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, and septal myectomy for that procedure.  I’m interested in heart transplantation, and ventricular assist devices.

I think that we’ve got a very good team approach here, especially with the heart failure service.  We have excellent facilities.  We have excellent equipment.  And we have excellent people on all fronts, from surgeons to cardiologists, to nurses, and staff.

If you have any questions about the services or programs offered at the Medical University of South Carolina, or if you’d like to schedule an appointment with one of our physicians, please call MUSC Health Connection at:  (843) 792-1414.
