Depression: Epidural Prefrontal Cortical Stimulation
Dr. Ziad Nahas describes a ground-breaking treatment for severe, treatment resistant depression. In a study funded by NARSAD, Dr. Nahas and his colleagues implanted four small 'paddles' directly on the dural layer of the cortical brain surface, and over a period of seven months applied intermittent electrical stimulation through wires implanted beneath the skin connected to batteries. Four of the five patients had significant improvement in their symptoms of depression.

Prostate Cancer: Diagnostic Phase
Urologist Dr. Jonathan Picard discusses the multidisciplinary review board approach employed at Hollings Cancer Center in order to optimize the course of care for each patient with a new prostate cancer diagnosis. In this podcast Dr. Picard walks through a typical sequence of events from the initial suspicion of prostate cancer through diagnosis of the disease.

Golf Injuries: An Overview
Sports medicine specialist Dr. David Geier provides an overview of common golf injuries, explaining the importance of core strength to avoid injury. He points out that injuries may be more likely with increasing age of a golfer. Additionally, Dr. Geier discusses preventive measures and describes painful symptoms indicating a physician should be seen.
