Week 24 - Diabetes and Pregnancy

Twenty four weeks is an important time to discuss diabetes. Almost all pregnant women will be screened for diabetes between 24 and 28 weeks to determine if they have high glucose levels in the blood. When diabetes is diagnosed during pregnancy it's called Gestational diabetes and will require specialized prenatal care. Dr. Jill Mauldin defines diabetes and the associated conditions that could affect the expectant mother and baby during the pregnancy and later on down the road.
