Fever in Small Children

Dr. Tim Givens, Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at MUSC, discusses fever in small children and how parents should respond to them. He describes exactly what a fever is, what may typically cause one, and why it is important to bring infants with a fever in to the emergency room. Dr. Givens explains how taking medications to treat the symptoms of a fever interacts with your natural body processes, and cautions against administering medication to children of a certain age before taking them to the hospital.
