Dr. Yusuf Hannun, professor of biochemistry and associate director of research at Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC, discusses some of the most active areas of research at Hollings Cancer Center. Dr. Hannun describes how advances are being made in developing more effective therapeutic methods for treating genetic abnormalities that lead to cancer, and how researchers in this program are working to develop treatments against the “Achilles heel” of certain types of cancers. Dr. Hannun also provides a brief outline of the Cancer Immunology program, as well as the Lipid Signaling program.
