Dr. Sunil Patel, clinical chair of the Department of Neurosciences at the Medical University of South Carolina, discusses an exciting new minimally invasive method of brain tumor removal. He explains how this is made possible with the use of an endoscope passed through the nasal passage at the base of the skull. Dr. Patel describes the many advantages of using this technique, as opposed to the old method of having to open up and dismantle the skull in order to reach a tumor. He concludes this podcast by discussing what the typical patient recovery time would be like for this procedure.
