ALS: Dietary Issues for Patients with Lou Gehrig’s Disease

In this nutrition podcast, registered dietician Nina Crowley goes over eating guidelines for patients with ALS, also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. She explains that patients with ALS tend to have difficulty chewing and swallowing, so calorie-dense foods tend to be preferable to greater quantities of lower-calorie options. She also talks about the use of a feeding tube and mentions the difficulty of proper hydration.
