In this neurological health podcast, Vicky Salak, the program coordinator for the deep brain stimulation program for treatment of Parkinson’s disease, begins by describing hallmark symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. She identifies how deep brain stimulation works and notes that it is efficacious for some symptoms of Parkinson’s disease but not others. Ms. Salak concludes by noting the very high success rate associated with deep brain stimulation for specific motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
