Dr. Jane Charles explains that a person that doesn’t meet the criteria for a diagnosis of autism could be considered a broader autism phenotype, meaning there isn’t an autistic genetic makeup in that person. Dr. Charles discusses the types of professions (i.e. - engineer, scientist) and personality traits these people often have, as well as ongoing research on autism to answer whether or not there is an autism epidemic.
