Dr. Jane Charles, a pediatrician who specializes in autism, explains the first things a parent should look for if they are concerned their child has a developmental problem, such as lack of social interaction, delayed verbal speech, lack of hand gestures and possibly regression at 18 months. Dr. Charles discusses various possibilities for speech delay, the developmental screening process and what resources are available for families with autistic children under the age of three.
