A critical shortage of neurologists in the region, combined with an aging population, has already resulted in relatively few Parkinson's and movement disorder patients having access to experts in the field for diagnosis and treatment. The Murray Center, in partnership with the SC Geriatric Education Center, The Fullerton Foundation, and WE MOVE, is developing an outreach program for Parkinson's patients as well as creating self-help resources for patients with movement disorders.

Efforts include:

  • Parkinson Outreach and Education Training. Sponsor: Fullerton Foundation. Develop comprehensive program for education of caregivers and primary care physicians in the recognition and care of Parkinson's disease.
  • "Primer on Parkinson's Disease." Sponsor: Fullerton Foundation. Develop a comprehensive web-based and print program for the education of caregivers and primary care physicians in the recognition and care of Parkinson's disease.
