Dr. Afrin is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and also serves in several information technology-related leadership positions throughout MUSC. He trained at MUSC and has been a member of the faculty since 1995; he is board certified in hematology and medical oncology. Dr. Afrin's clinical (and clinical research) interests include benign hematologic and mast cell disorders; he also has an extensive background in computer science and has been pursuing research and development in medical informatics since 1978. "I enjoy being a part of MUSC and the Hollings Cancer Center because of the opportunities to investigate challenging clinical problems; to improve medical care, research, and teaching on a large scale through innovative developments in enterprise information systems; and to help develop future generations of physicians and investigators."
