| Dr. Picard is an Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina and certified by the American Board of Urology. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1997. After obtaining his medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 2002, he moved to Ohio to complete his residency training in urologic surgery at the University of Toledo including a year dedicated to urologic research and renal transplantation. Additional postgraduate training was completed in robotic urologic surgery at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, a world leader in robotic urologic surgery.
Dr Picard has interest and expertise in urologic surgical oncology including traditional open surgery of the kidney, ureter, bladder, prostate and testicles, as well as, laparoscopic and robotic surgery of the kidney, ureter, bladder, and prostate. His primary interest lies in laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques with an emphasis on robotic urologic surgery. He has received additional training allowing him to perform a number of advanced robotic procedures including:
• Robotic Nephrectomy (kidney removal) • Robotic Partial Nephrectomy (partial kidney removal) • Robotic Cystectomy (bladder removal) • Robotic Ureteral Surgery • Robotic Lymphadenectomy (lymph node removal) • Robotic Prostatectomy (prostate removal)
Dr Picard has published many articles related to urologic cancer management. He is an active member of the multidisciplinary Urologic Oncology Tumor Board and participates in multidisciplinary clinical trials.
