Dr. Grady Hendrix is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and his present function is as a general cardiologist for diagnosis and therapy primarily in the outpatient setting. Dr. Hendrix is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina and did his internal medicine training at the Medical College of Georgia and his cardiology training at UNC/Chapel Hill. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and nuclear cardiology. He has functioned in the past as director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories and director of nuclear cardiology.
He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians and of the American Heart Association. He has served as a reviewer for peer reviewed journals and research grants. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association as well as the South Carolina Affiliate of the American Heart Association. He is a past governor of the American College of Cardiology for South Carolina as well as President of the South Carolina Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. He is the recipient of 41 research grants and has participated in 51 clinical trials over his career; he has made 631 presentations at international, national, regional, and state and local cardiovascular scientific meetings. He has authored 110 scientific publications.
He has been interested in international health and has participated in programs and exchanges under the auspices of the American Heart Association, Partners of the Americas, Medical University of South Carolina, St. Georges University, and Kingstown Medical College.
