Chris Parsons, M.D., received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1998, and completed an internship and residency in the Osler Internal Medicine Training Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2001. He completed his subspecialty training within the Infectious Diseases and International Health Fellowship Training Program at the University of Virginia in 2004. He served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UVA until 2006 when he received a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Microbiology/Immunology at MUSC.

Dr. Parsons’ clinical work focuses on the care of patients with infectious diseases, with a special interest in opportunistic infections related to immunosuppressive medications and HIV. As a Research Associate of the Hollings Cancer Center in the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy group at MUSC, Dr. Parsons’ research focuses on discovering new therapies for cancers caused by viruses.
