Diabetic retinopathy

People with diabetes often develop a retina condition called diabetic retinopathy. Over time, diabetes affects the circulatory system of the eye which then leads to more vision problems including glaucoma and cataracts.

Experts agree that diabetics should have a comprehensive, dilated eye exam annually by a trained eye care provider. Diabetic retinopathy is a serious eye condition affecting diabetics that can lead to vision loss if left untreated. For more information contact your eye care provider or call Storm Eye Institute at
(843) 792-8100.
